Göcek is a fishing village right at the border where the territory of Fethiye meets that of Dalaman. a marina has recently been constructed here, making Göcek a port of call for all the yachts entering the gulf of Fethiye. There are chrome mines at Göcek, and you will see the freighters in the harbour taking on consignments for delivey abroad. There is also now a paper mill, so that the one-time fishing village is slowly becoming industrialized. We live on a planet of blue seas and green forests that is rapidly being destroyed by factories, industrial waste and war.The sight of paper mills and black piles by the chrome mines at Göcek makes me long for a civilization that would preserve nature. The blue streches away, the sea sparkles, the sails are white. With all this beauty to enjoy, why do people insist on fighting wars ? |
