Caunos is stiuated 20 km South of Köyceğiz just across the village of Dalyan on the straight which connects the lake of Köyceğiz to the Aegean Sea. Caunıs is known with is Rock - tombs   In the city which had lived the eras of Alexandre the great, Persions,Romans and  Byzantium empire many archeological excavvations had been caried out in 1966 and in 1969 We higly recommend you  to give a visit to a village of  Dalyan wgich is found just across the antique city Caunos which has been turned out to be the most fovoured region for the international Envirormental Associations such as the grens.

            When looked throught the small island reed beds and marshes within the village you wil meet a sandy area shaped like toque which is called Iztuzu.This area is the bed of sea turles called caretta-caretta where they use as egg laying place.Because of the excessive pres sure of environmentalist worldwide the area for the purposeof survial of the turtles.
